Selected Work from the Archive

Three recent commissions that show how we move from a rough brief to a finished printed piece.

Clients and collaborators we have worked with

Over the past years we have partnered with independent publishers, local breweries, record labels and small retail shops across Penang. Most of these relationships started with a single printed piece and grew into ongoing art direction work. We keep the list short on purpose: every name here represents a project we can trace back to a specific brief, a specific print run and a specific set of decisions.

If you run a local business or an independent cultural project, we would like to hear about the printed materials you need. Tell us about the product, the audience and the deadline, and we will reply with a clear production plan.

Start a project brief
2021-2024

Kopi Hutan Roasters

Identity system and packaging for a small-batch coffee roaster in George Town. We designed the logo, bag labels and a set of postcards used at local farmers markets. The project relied on two-color risograph printing and a custom lettering approach based on the owner's handwriting.

2022-2023

Pulau Records

Art direction for a cassette label focused on experimental music from Southeast Asia. We produced cover art, insert layouts and a series of posters for release shows. The visual language combined scanned textures with a strict grid, keeping production costs low while maintaining a distinct shelf presence.

2023

Lorong Press

Editorial design for a zine series documenting street food vendors in Penang. We handled the typographic system, photo layout and print supervision across three issues. Each issue used a different accent color on the cover while the interior stayed in black and white for budget reasons.

2024

Tan & Sons Hardware

Brand refresh and signage for a family-owned hardware store. We redrew the existing logo, updated the price tags and designed a set of window posters for seasonal promotions. The work focused on legibility from a distance and easy reproduction by the store's own inkjet printer.
