What the studio handles

Setec Studio works on the full arc of a printed piece: concept, type, layout, and production follow-through. Each service below is scoped around a real deliverable, not a vague promise.

Identity systems for local businesses Logotype, color palette, typographic pairings, and stationery built to survive small-batch printing and everyday use.
Editorial layout and art direction Magazine spreads, catalogs, and booklets where grid, hierarchy, and image selection are resolved before production begins.
Poster and print campaign design Series of posters, flyers, and outdoor pieces with a consistent visual language across formats and paper stocks.
Packaging and label design Structural thinking, material choice, and print-ready artwork for food, beverage, and artisan product packaging.
Typographic exploration and custom lettering Experimental type treatments and hand-drawn lettering for covers, signage, and brand moments that need a distinct voice.
Print production supervision Prepress checks, proofing, and press-side coordination with local printers to keep color and finish true to the original intent.

The people behind the print

Setec Studio runs as a small independent team. We keep the studio compact on purpose: every project gets direct attention from the person who will actually design it, not from an account manager passing notes along. Between us we cover identity systems, editorial layouts, typography and production supervision.

We have worked with local coffee roasters, independent publishers, music collectives and small retail brands across Penang. The work is hands-on from the first sketch to the final press check.

Founder, Art Direction

Adrian Rodriguez Ortega

Adrian leads the creative direction on every project and handles the client relationship from kickoff to delivery. He spent eight years in editorial design before starting Setec, which is why most of our brand systems start with a typographic grid rather than a logo sketch.

Senior Graphic Designer

Francisco Jimenez Ramirez

Francisco builds the production files and oversees print quality. He knows how inks behave on uncoated stock, when to push a color separation further, and which local print shop handles a specific paper finish well. He also runs our experimental type tests.

Designer, Production

Valeria Cruz Rivera

Valeria manages the project timeline, prepares artwork for print and photographs the finished pieces for the archive. Her background in packaging production means she catches structural issues early, before they become expensive problems at the printer.

Who we are

An independent studio for visual identity and art direction

Setec Studio works with local brands, artists, and small businesses that care about how they look on paper. We build identities, editorial systems, and printed campaigns from the first sketch to the final production proof.

01

Visual identity for neighborhood commerce

We design logos, stationery, packaging, and signage for shops, cafes, and workshops that want a consistent presence without losing their local character. Each project starts with a conversation about the business, its customers, and the street it lives on.

Branding should feel like the place it comes from.
02

Editorial design and typographic systems

We build layouts for books, catalogs, posters, and printed matter where type carries the message. Our work includes experimental type explorations, grid systems, and production-ready files for offset and risograph printing.

Type is a material, not just a font choice.
03

Art direction for printed campaigns

We plan the visual concept, direct photo sessions, and design the full set of printed pieces for a campaign. From color palettes to paper stock and finishing, we follow the work through production so the final piece matches the original idea.

Good art direction survives the print run.
04

Process documentation and case studies

Every project we publish includes the decisions behind it: conceptual references, palette tests, type explorations, and production notes. We share this material so clients and fellow designers can see how a piece actually comes together.

Process is part of the work, not a behind-the-scenes extra.
